Patreon

I recently came across this great service/site called Patreon.com It’s like an on-going Kickstarter for artist and musicians. So, I joined http://www.patreon.com/jimfaris.

Here is the deal. So many times I’ve run into great artist that I love but couldn’t afford their art or I find people online doing a great comic strip or a tumblr feed that I hope never ends and I want to support then, but I’m a struggling artist trying to make a buck too… I can buy everything. But I just wish I could do something. So I make sure I click any ads on their pages incase Google Ads are active and I occasionally save up and buy a piece.

But now there is Patreon. For as little as a buck a month, you can help the art and artist you love keep making that art. You just pledge what you can afford. Some artist give away art, or sell at discounts or offer rewards. It’s really pretty cool.

I put up my Patreon site http://www.patreon.com/jimfaris last night and I’m offering a few Rewards cheap. A Nugget a month program, a printed sketchbook, and a discount on a large print. I’ll figure out more stuff once I get more time.

So for all of you that have asked how to be part of my emerging art scene, I can now offer you the ability to support my art. (yes, it sounds a bit pompous to me too)

More Nuggets

At Arts in the Alley I started a series now called the Nugget series. I have 5 wooden 16x20 canvases. A few weeks ago I got up early and sketched them out and laid down the primary coats.

This morning I I got another one finished.

more Nuggets to come

not simple

This is a digital image. I have never sold digital images before. Most of you know that you can right click these images and save them for yourself.

Since starting my sketch-a-day in January, I’ve had a lot of requests for these images. Most people want to buy them, but some of you just want to support me as an artist.

So, consider it a donation. For your $10 you get the high-rez image suitable for printing up to around 28” x 21”.

While at Arts in the Alley , I did a painting inspired by my little baby girl. More her attitude than her looks. ;)
